Marymede Catholic College empowers teams for remote work with 5GN Voice Bridge One.
Marymede Catholic College faced significant challenges with their on-premises communications platform, which was nearing the end of its life cycle. The system suffered from poor performance and reliability issues, impacting the school’s ability to effectively communicate and collaborate. These challenges created disruptions in daily operations and hindered the delivery of essential services to students, staff, and parents. The Solution
Marymede Catholic College required a platform to turn their existing environment into a full communications suite.
Like most businesses, Marymede Catholic College already used the Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including the MS Teams platform for intra-college messaging and calls. By adding 5G Networks’ Voice Bridge One (VBO) to the suite, Marymede can now use the same, familiar, platform for calling and collaborating with external parties.
The Result
MS Teams with VBO can be accessed on PC, Mac and Linux desktops, via a web browser, and on mobile devices, enabling Marymede staff to take calls on their ‘office phone’ even when working from home and when traveling. A useful feature for when staff are on school excursions and camps.
In addition to improving call quality, the VBO infrastructure is hosted across dual, geo-redundant 5GN owned data centers, allowing Marymede to remove their eight on-premise dedicated call servers and therefore the single point of failure in their call path.
They’ve freed themselves from an old, end of life communications solution and gained a modern, future proof platform that will benefit from Microsoft improvements for years to come.
Additionally, the environment offers Marymede the ability to configure features such as remote conference calls via self-service functionality.
About the College
Marymede Catholic College is a co-educational, Prep to Year 12 school founded in 2006 and located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. The school prides itself on providing an education that incorporates the latest technology with a safe, caring and dynamic environment.
Coupled with outstanding facilities, the college’s biggest strength is its strong community where educators, support staff, parents and friends are all engaged in providing a collaborative academic environment.
Such a strong community can only be maintained through a robust and reliable communications platform. However, Marymede’s existing on-premise voice and messaging solution had aged resulting in deteriorated call quality and decreased reliability. Added to this was the expense of maintaining eight servers on-premises as well as purchasing the necessary software licences. 5GN assisted the College to update to a modern platform that provided the environment they desired, in an easy to maintain and cost-effective solution.
