Marymede Catholic College empowers teams for remote work with 5GN Voice Bridge One.
Marymede Catholic College faced significant challenges with their on-premises communications platform, which was nearing the end of its life cycle. The system suffered from poor performance and reliability issues, impacting the school’s ability to effectively communicate and collaborate. These challenges created disruptions in daily operations and hindered the delivery of essential services to students, staff, and parents. Recognizing the urgent need for a solution, the college sought to upgrade their communications infrastructure with 5G Networks to ensure stability, reliability, and improved performance. Like most businesses, Marymede Catholic College already uses the Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including the MS Teams platform for intra-college messaging and calls. By adding 5G Networks’ Voice Bridge One (VBO) to the suite, Marymede is able to use the same, familiar, platform they use with internal teams for calling and collaborating with external parties.
MS Teams with VBO can be accessed on PC, Mac and Linux desktops, via a web browser, and on mobile devices, enabling Marymede staff to take calls on their ‘office phone’ even when working from home and when traveling, such as school excursions and camps.
In addition to improving call quality, the VBO infrastructure is hosted across dual, geo-redundant 5GN owned data centres, allowing Marymede to remove their eight on-premise dedicated call servers and therefore the single point of failure in their call path.
They’ve uncoupled themselves from an old, end of life communications solution and hitched their wagon to a modern, future proof platform that will benefit from billion dollar investments by Microsoft for years to come.
Additionally, the environment gives Marymede the ability to configure features via self-service functionality and quickly provide access to important features like conference calls no matter where participants are located.
Marymede Catholic College is a co-educational, Prep to Year 12 school founded in 2006 and located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. The school prides itself on providing an education that incorporates the latest technology with a safe, caring and dynamic environment.
Coupled with outstanding facilities, the college’s biggest strength is its strong community; with teachers, support staff, parents and friends all engaged in providing a fantastic academic environment.
Such a strong community can only be maintained through a robust and reliable communications platform and Marymede found that, as their existing on-premise voice and messaging solution aged, call quality deteriorated and reliability decreased. Once they considered the expense of maintaining eight servers on-premises as well as purchasing the necessary software licences, the College knew it was time to update to a modern platform that afforded them the flexibility and collaborative environment they desired, in an easy to maintain and cost-effective solution.
